President, North America East
Matt Cramer serves as Lineage’s President of North America - East. Along with his team, Matt is focused on supporting operations and local sales for the Eastern business unit in North America. With degrees in Production and Operations Management from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, Matt is able to set Lineage and his team up for success.
Which of Lineage’s values is most meaningful to you, and why?
Servant Leadership – Our responsibility to the world is to put those who we support in a position to succeed by eliminating barriers, supporting their development and creating teams that are far better than any individual.
What does Lineage’s purpose (to transform the food supply chain to eliminate waste and help feed the world) mean to you and why is it important?
You don’t have to look far in any location worldwide to see where people are struggling with food insecurity. This resonates at a personal level for me and it’s truly inspiring to work for a company that has made it a core part of its mission to focus on solutions to abate these issues at a level that no single individual ever could.
What is a piece of professional advice you received from an impactful leader that you can share with others?
Never allow your perspective prevent you from learning in the moment. Take each opportunity you are given and ask yourself, "What can I learn from this person, situation or perspective?".
What are the two or three most important lessons you have learned in your career that others could benefit from?
- Build teams of leaders that are better than you are as an individual
- Make time for those you support and listen intently when you are interacting with them
- Get good at the “why” when introducing change. People are not naturally resistant to change but we, as leaders, need to understand how to tie change back to the team member in meaningful ways.
What is your proudest achievement?
No question, the proudest achievements in my life are my marriage to my beautiful wife Katherine and becoming a father to our three wonderful children Emma, Madelyn, and Matthew.
