Lineage recognized for its deployment of ATLAS refrigeration controls system to create energy efficiencies

The award marks the fourth consecutive year that Lineage has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy for its innovation in energy

Novi, MI – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recognized Better Plants partner, Lineage Logistics, LLC (“Lineage” or the “Company”) for its deployment of ATLAS, a refrigeration controls system developed by CrossnoKaye. As part of DOE’s Better Buildings Initiative, Better Plants works with leading manufacturers and water and wastewater treatment agencies to boost their competitiveness through improvements in energy efficiency, GHG emissions reduction, water efficiency, and waste reduction.

The annual Better Project Awards are bestowed upon partners for outstanding accomplishments in implementing industrial energy, water, and waste projects at individual facilities. Lineage Logistics was recognized for its deployment of CrossnoKaye’s ATLAS system at its Riverside-3 facility, a refrigeration system that manages Lineage’s facility locally and connects to a suite of ATLAS Applications that offer visibility and control. The technology has resulted in almost 20% in energy savings at the site to date. ATLAS is currently deployed at two of Lineage’s facilities and is expected to be deployed across additional facilities in Lineage’s network by the end of 2022.

“At Lineage, we are relentlessly pursuing innovation to create efficiencies across our network,” said Sudarsan Thattai, Lineage’s Chief Transformation Officer. “I am incredibly proud of our industry-leading data science team at Lineage – with over 25 team members today who are successfully applying innovative thinking across energy and waste management. We are incredibly thankful to CrossnoKaye for their partnership in the deployment of ATLAS at our facility.”

“Better Plants partners are combating the climate crisis through meaningful energy, water, and waste reduction efforts. The Better Plants Better Practice and Better Project awards highlight innovation in industrial sustainability and a willingness to share good ideas,” said Carolyn Snyder, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency at the U.S. Department of Energy.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Lineage has received this award for sustainable innovation. Lineage was recognized in 2021 by the U.S. DOE with a Better Practice Award for its success in energy procurement and hedging, which has reduced energy costs from two to six percent at participating sites. In 2020, the U.S. DOE recognized Lineage for optimizing its blast freezing process, and in 2019, the department recognized Lineage for pioneering a new and innovative way to improve energy productivity using a process the Company calls “flywheeling.”
