Lineage Logistics Cut Ribbon on LEED-Certified Cold Storage Facility in Santa Maria, CA

Colton, CA, September 24, 2014 - Today, Lineage Logistics, the second largest (and fastest growing) refrigerated warehouse network in the world, owned and managed by Bay Grove Capital, officially opened the doors on its new, 216,000 square-foot, state-of-the art, LEED-certified cold storage and food processing facility in Santa Maria, California.

The facility will create more than 250 new jobs on-site and at adjacent food processing facilities. Michael E. Rossi, Senior Advisor for Jobs and Business Development to Governor Brown noted, "The Governor's Office applauds Lineage Logistics for their investment and the city of Santa Maria for their efforts to expand business. This state of the art facility not only provides jobs but also serves as a shining example of how California companies lead the way in innovation."

Speaking at the event, Mayor Alice Patino remarked, “This is more than a food center - this is a shining symbol of this community's growth and prosperity and Santa Maria's commitment to growing the economy the right way - in a way that creates good jobs and benefits the entire community while reducing our impact on our natural environment.”

Joining Lineage CEO Bill Hendricksen to celebrate the ribbon-cutting were Dan Powers, President and CEO of Fisher & Sons, the design builder on the project, and Santa Maria Mayor Alice Patino, along with local industry, business, community and elected leaders.

“From the beginning, we set out to construct a state-of-the-art food facility worthy of the generations of farmers and farmworkers who have built this region’s famed agribusiness economy and respectful of the local environment that makes the Central Coast a special place,” said Hendricksen. “We’ve achieved that here – and we’ve done so in a way that will allow us to create good jobs and support a food supply chain that is truly second to none.”

The LEED-certified facility features 151,000 square feet of frozen storage and dock space, 45,000 square feet dedicated to onsite food processing, and eight blast cells with the capacity to blast freeze up to 1 million pounds per day. The Santa Maria site will also offer rail access and in-house transportation services to local and national food-supply markets. With 30,000 additional pallet positions, the facility will play a major role in meeting the needs of the Santa Maria region.

Design-built by Fisher & Sons, it was completed in 296 calendar days.
